ABOUT WAID

WAID provides a digital tool for humanitarian events and activities

Humanitarian aid organizations use various tools, both digital and manual, in the various phases of event preparation, operational planning, and execution. There are many tools that today can solve parts of the various phases, but they are often not adapted to the humanitarian organizations and can often not be integrated. This makes it challenging for organizations to have an overview and control over the entire organization and the events they carry out.

WAID has gathered all the necessary tools for the preparation, execution, and evaluation of events and activities in one product.

BACKGROUND

We have personal experience of contributing in the field

The founders of WAID, Karoline Saastad and Jonas Aakenes, both have experience from working in several humanitarian organizations. With feedback from a network in the industry and several actors in the humanitarian sector, we saw a growing need for increased digitalization. The desire to make a difference is an anchor in the company, and in November 2020, the founders traveled to Beirut together with Team Rubicon Norway to contribute to the clean-up after the explosion that hit the country earlier that year.

We are social entrepreneurs

WAID was started in 2019 at NTNU School of Entrepreneurship, by a team that had a desire to use their experience and expertise to make a difference. Close collaboration with the market and experienced mentors from the industry gives WAID the expertise and network needed to succeed. Since 2019, we have received guidance from Norway’s best social entrepreneurs to get to where we are today, including through SoCentral, Impact Startup, and the entrepreneurial network at NTNU. The team currently consist of employees with knowledge from relevant fields, including business development and software development.

We are always looking for engaged souls!
